Official Species Correction Notice: Cali Is Actually A Cat
When Cali first came into our care, we believed she was a dog. After extensive research, multiple peer reviews, and several world-class judgmental side-eyes, we can now confirm Cali is actually a large, red-headed house cat disguised as a pibble.
Supporting evidence includes:
Firmly believes she should be the only pet in the home (as any self-respecting monarch would).
Tolerates other dogs on walks the same way cats tolerate baths — with deep personal offense but controlled composure.
Has zero interest in sharing her kingdom with actual cats. There can only be one queen.
Former street entrepreneur with excellent decision-making skills and a strong independent streak.
Carefully selects her people… then loves them with her whole oversized, slightly dramatic heart.
Cali has officially retired from street life and is now seeking a full-time role as a couch ornament, blanket burrower, and highly committed personal shadow.
Ideal staff (formerly known as adopters) will:
Understand she may occasionally ignore you on purpose
Have experience with strong, intelligent dogs (…or very large cats)
Provide at least one couch worthy of royalty
Provide snacks on demand (this is not a suggestion)
The Fine Print (aka the good news):
Up to date on vaccines
Comes with a spay voucher
Expert-level skills in looking adorable while silently judging your life choices
If you’re ready to welcome this rare and majestic pibble-cat hybrid, please contact Essex Regional Animal Control and complete an application through the Essex Town website.
Important: Cali is not looking for roommates. She is looking for staff
