About Us
There Is No “Us” Without Her
Meet “April Mae” a once terrified shell of a pup who had been abused in horrific ways, resulting in the loss of a front leg and a deep distrust in humans.
From June 2014 until her final breath in our arms on Feb 6, 2026, we were blessed to love, nurture, and watch her blossom into the most loving, confident, sassy, happy girl to have ever hopped this earth.
Say Yes to Adventure
I wasn’t looking for a dog. Had never had a dog, and loudly exclaimed that now was not a good time for a dog, and meant every word.
I agreed to foster for up to thirty days. I foster failed in three and then spent the next eleven years, eight months, and sixteen days wondering how I had gotten so lucky.
April was amazing. She was terrified of things, but she did them anyway, and you should have seen her dance for joy when she succeeded. She was everything beautiful in this world, and the MOST unexpected blessing I almost missed out on.
The Inspiration
The core commands we teach our dogs is sit, stay, and here. Once mastered, a world of adventure opens and we trust them to come with us to explore the everyday.
Those simple words “sit”, “stay”, and “here” create the foundation needed to get out there safely and explore the world. To live life.
You’ve already mastered them. You have all the tools you need to say yes to an adventure, to explore something new, and let someone else decided a low risk decision for you.
So get out there, say yes to an adventure, and explore more. The best things in life are often the most unexpected.
The animal welfare crisis in Connecticut and beyond is serious, and today more than perhaps every before, local shelter dogs need our help. We utilize profits from this website to make a positive impact on the lives of shelter dogs so while you’re exploring the best of your life, you’re helping to save them as well, so Thank You.
