Please share and help spread the word. Opal Deserves Better Than the Life She Was Given

When Opal arrived in our care, it was clear she had been suffering for a very long time.

Please consider making a donation toward Opal’s medical care. We need to raise a minimum of $2000.00 for her surgeries. No amount is too small. Every dollar brings her one step closer to a life free from pain and filled with comfort, safety, and love.

This tiny senior dog, estimated to be over 10 years old, was found roaming alone after years of heartbreaking neglect. The people who were supposed to care for her failed her in every way imaginable.

Opal’s mouth is filled with severe dental disease, leaving her in constant pain every time she eats. She has multiple mammary tumors that must be surgically removed and biopsied to determine whether they are cancerous. She was never spayed, putting her at even greater risk for these life-threatening conditions.

Perhaps most heartbreaking are her ears. Untreated infections destroyed them over many years. The damage is so extensive that specialists do not recommend the aggressive surgeries that might be considered for a younger dog. At Opal’s age, the procedures would be painful, risky, and difficult to recover from. The damage cannot be undone.

What we can do is give her comfort, dignity, and the medical care she desperately needs.

Her veterinary team recommends senior bloodwork, followed by surgery to spay her, remove her mammary tumors, and perform a much-needed dental procedure with extractions to relieve years of pain and infection.

Despite everything she has endured, Opal remains gentle, trusting, and hopeful. She still looks at people with kind eyes, as if she’s waiting for someone to finally show her the love she has always deserved.

We cannot change Opal’s past, but together we can change her future.

For Opal, this isn’t about adding years to her life. It’s about making sure the years she has left are the best she’s ever known.
