Meet Sweet Pea! This beautiful girl is looking for a patient, understanding person—or ideally a rescue—to give her the chance she deserves.
She is incredibly sweet and friendly, but she's also very scared of the world around her. Everything seems new and overwhelming to her, and she needs someone willing to move at her pace, build her confidence, and show her that life can be safe.
Despite her fears, she enjoys going for walks and wants to connect with people. She has a lovable, quirky personality that shines through once you get to know her. Some of her fears are honestly a little silly—she's been known to be suspicious of birds, certain types of grass, random shadows, and other everyday things that most dogs never think twice about.. like a different sounding squeaker in a new toy.
Ideal Home:
* No children under 16
* No other dogs
* A patient, calm environment
* Someone experienced with fearful or under-socialized dogs
* Consistent positive reinforcement and confidence-building
* Time to decompress and adjust
Sweet Pea isn't a "perfect" dog, but she is a deserving one. Underneath the fear is a sweet companion who needs someone to believe in her. Watching a dog like her learn that the world isn't so scary can be one of the most rewarding experiences imaginable.
She is currently in our municipal shelter and would greatly benefit from rescue placement or a qualified adopter willing to give her the patience and understanding she needs. The shelter is willing to work with a qualified adopter or rescue to help set her up for success.
